  • What is the purpose of these videos?

    Quite simply, these videos are to support you with your studies, helping you understand how theory is put into practice on real life projects.

    If you are a teaching professional, these videos will further develop your skills and knowledge, keep you updated with the latest industry advancements, and be a useful resource for teaching students of all ages.

    Please note, these videos were created for Balfour Beatty’s professional development programme so were not developed purely for educational use.

  • How do I access these videos?

    As long as your school, college or University has an existing partnership with Balfour Beatty, you can create your own profile by completing the registration form. Please note, you will need to register for an account using your education e-mail address, personal e-mail accounts will not be accepted.

  • How could my school register for an account?

    If you are an education institution and would like to work in partnership with Balfour Beatty, please send your request and details to education@balfourbeatty.com and we will reach out to discuss the requirements in more detail.

    We will only accept registered formal education e-mail addresses.

  • Could these videos count towards my CPD hours?

    Yes, but we recommend you contact any professional bodies you are registered with to check what they need for evidence of CPD.

  • Is there a subscription fee to access these videos?

    No, they are all free to access.

  • What age group are these videos for?

    All ages, but generally for students studying from GCSE upwards.

  • Can I download the videos to my device?

    These videos are designed to be watched via the website and cannot not be downloaded.

  • What topics do the videos cover?

    A wide range of topics including energy, sustainability, technology, modern methods of construction and more.

  • What subjects will these videos help with?

    Clearly those with an engineering focus but more widely for example, geography, history, maths, science and English. They pretty much cover everything as the civil infrastructure sector has a vast array of careers aside from construction, i.e. legal, finance, social media, communications, human resources so whatever you are studying, you will certainly find some of the content relevant and useful.

  • Who are the speakers in the videos?

    All of our speakers are either a Balfour Beatty employee or one of key supply chain partners, many are leading experts in their field.

  • What is the average video length?

    Approximately 45mins.

  • Will watching these videos help me in applying for a job with Balfour Beatty?

    Absolutely, a question we always ask at job interviews is ‘so, what interests you in a role at Balfour Beatty?’ So, the more of these you watch, the more information you will have to refer to in your interview, this will certainly impress and improve your chances of securing a role.
